Born and brought up in North Kent, Paul started playing lead and rhythm guitar at the age of 16 with Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, and Brian May being very significant influences at that time. He was also fortunate enough to have met and been encouraged by session drummer Ian Wooley, who brought Paul in to play lead guitar for his dinner / dance band of the time at age 17. Having enjoyed 2 years of hard work with Ian on the London / North Kent live music circuit, Paul moved to West Sussex in order to study at Chichester University, and has since continued to play across a broad range of musical styles including folk, blues, R&B, soul, and rock. Recent bands include Could Be Good; Herbie Mash & Tommie Relish (Blues Duo); Wicked Liquid; Wasted; and Big Verns Blues Band (a spin off by musicians from the 'Little Shop of Horrors' show band). Continually looking for new musical avenues to explore, Paul has more recently dabbled with bass guitar at various Jam nights across Sussex, and has deputised on the bass for many local bands. Paul formally joined the Diamonds as bassist in 2002, and looks forward to the challenges and success that the future will bring the band. |
